KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – The most waited drama-action movie entitled Bunohan will be shown at the 36th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) as its first premiere at the international stage from this September 8 until September 18.
Bunohan was officially chosen for this festival in the Discovery section which features films from filmmakers who are on the rise from around the world.
According to TIFF organizer representative, Giovanna Fulvi, the film revolves around the community in Kelantan and southern Thailand has its own strength from a socio-culture aspect and a steady cast.
“AT first glance, this film is realistic and stylish enough. Bunohan is a film that has its own power. This film directed by Dain Said is well-established, guarantees a strong performance from its cast, which are mostly
all male,” he commented.
TIFF is one of the prestige festival in North America which will occur from this September 8 until September 18, while Bunohan is the only film representing Malaysia this year in that festival.
Director Dain Said can be proud this month because Bunohan has successfully obtain international distribution aid from Pictures University for distribution in United Kingdom, France, German, Australia and
New Zealand.
When contacted in Bangkok recently where he is completing his film to be sent to Toronto, Dain said, “This is good news. I really do not expect anything, but now it is happening.
“What can I say? I feel excited, especially for all the production and cast energy who work very hard to achieve this film,” he said.
Bunohan features Faizal Hussein, Zahiril Adzim and Pekin Ibrahim, with supporting actors namely Bront Palarae, Nam Ron, Wan Hanafi Su, Sofi Jikan, Amerul Affendi, Hushairy Hussein and Jimmy Lor.
Besides that, the production could also be proud because they have a tall lanky model namely Tengku Azura and indie director Ho Yuhang who are also starring in the film.
This film was written and directed by Dain Said and was produced by Nandita Solomon. Tim Kwok from Entertainment Convergence acted as Co-producer.
Bunohan was produced by film company Apparat which is own by Dain himself and is represented in the international level by Easternlights Films production.
