Keronchong is one of the most popular folk music from the Malay world and shared by Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Featuring a tapestry of talents from these countries – Wandly Yazid Orkestra (Singapore & West Sumatra), Orkes Keronchong Putrajaya (Malaysia) and Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (Aswara) - the concert is a musical journey tracing the development of Keronchong to the peak of its popularity in the 60’s and recent revival. The orchestra will also perform classic Malay songs from the 1960’s including several evergreen songs composed by the late Wandly Yazid.

Produced by Jeffrey Wandly (Maya Gallery), with music direction by Azmy Hassan (Singapore) and choreography by Hardie Pusako (West Sumatra), the performance will also feature singing legend, Julie Sudiro.

This concert is in conjunction with the Malay CultureFest 2013, organised by the Malay Heritage Centre (National Heritage Board).

Join us for an enthralling evening!

The orchestra will also be roving around Kampong Glam on Sunday, September 22 at 2pm and 5pm.
