THAI FILM FESTIVAL IN MALAYSIA 2023: BRIDGING THAINESS TO THE INTERNATIONAL AUDIENCE

Following the two successful Thai Film Festival in Malaysia hosted by the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur in 2017 and 2019, the Thai Film Festival in Malaysia 2023 is scheduled to take place during 13 – 16 July 2023, under the theme “Bridging Thainess to International Audience”, with the aim to promote social and cultural understanding of Thailand among our friends in Malaysia. 

The Thai Film Festival in Malaysia 2023: Bridging Thainess to International Audience will feature five renowned films from Thailand, namely, Faces of Anne (Psycho thriller), Love Destiny the Movie (Rom-Com), Fast and Feel Love (Quirky comedy), Haunted Universities 2nd Semester (Horror), and we are bringing back nostalgia with Friend Zone (Rom-Com). The public screening will take place during 14 – 16 July 2023 (three days) at four cinemas in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, and Putrajaya, which are GSC Mid Valley, GSC 1 Utama, GSC MyTown, and GSC IOI City Mall, Putarajaya, with a total of 21 screenings. 

During the Press Conference, H.E. Ms. Lada Phumas, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia, reiterated the continuous support from Malaysian friends and fanclubs since the 1st Thai Film Festival in Malaysia in 2017, that the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur decided to continue taking on Thai arts, culture, daily and social life closer to Malaysia through five renowned Thai films. Her Excellency had also stated that, in order to provide even more opportunities for Friends of Thailand to get to know Thailand much better and more convenient, the Royal Thai Embassy has partnered up with film industry business in Malaysia, Suraya Filem & Distribution, and both sides agreed to sign on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) together, to strengthen cooperation and future collaboration in the field of Thai film, contents, production and other entertainment.

 All screenings during the festival are FREE of charge (booking fee surcharge included).  The tickets can be redeemed from 7 July 2023 - 16 July 2023 (last day of the film festival). To redeem, please go to:

Each redemption of ticket is limited to two (2) tickets only. The tickets availability of each screening and seating is based on a first-come, first-serve basis, so hurry!

A reception and a special screening of “Faces of Anne” will be held on Friday, 13 July 2023 at GSC Mid Valley, Hall 18, from 19.00 hrs. onwards. Distinguished guests, including Diplomatic corps, Friends of Thailand, Film 

producers, Media, Malaysian and Thai students, as well as Thai and Malaysian celebrities, have been invited to the event.  There will also be a short interview session with the casts from Love Destiny the Movie (Mr. PARIS INTARAKOMALYASUT) and Faces of Anne (Ms. PRAEWA SUTHAMPHONG and Ms. JENNIS OPRASERT) in prior to the screening. This event is by invitation only. However, members of the media who attend the press conference on 23 June 2023 at the Royal Thai Embassy will be invited to the reception and the special screening of the Thai Film Festival in Malaysia 2023 on 13 July 2023, 19.00 – 22.30 hrs., GSC Mid Valley.

As a token of appreciation to Malaysian Thai Fanclubs, the fans will be given an opportunity to get up close with the three casts during an Exclusive Meet and Greet event at Hall 19, GSC Mid Valley on Thursday 13 July 2023, 16.30 – 17.30 hr. This event is free of charge but pre-registration is required with limited seats. There will be games, exclusive interview session, photo opportunities and other interactions to look forward to.
